Proud could not say enough of our Junior Ladies Football team which has deservedly advanced to the knockout stages of the Leinster Championship after another fantastic win, this time at the expense of Kilcormac on Wednesday the 30th of November.
A game played in ideal conditions St. Fergal’s settled well with early points from Ellen Hennessy and Leanne Hyland before Paige Hyland raised the first green flag of the day. Kilcormac then began to find their feet and hit for two good goals. In a fast paced encounter Gemma Hoare, Clodagh Tynan and Leanne Hyland covered every blade of grass displaying fantastic work rate. Further goals from Leanne, Clodagh, Ellen and Shona Jones put St. Fergal’s in the driving seat but once again came the fightback from KIlcormac. The girls had to dig deep to halt this impressive fightback.
Huge performances from all the above mentioned as well as Catherine Galbraith, Zoe Daly and Emily Carroll keep the moving brilliantly up the field. At the back, Holly Bowe and Keira Corcoran played very well while Niamh Bracken in goals prevented at least another two goals with her quick thinking. Each member of the panel received game time which shows the competition for places and desire to win by all these girls.
In a deserved win the final score was St. Fergal’s 7-8 Kilcormac 6-1
