On 17th October the Transition Year students accompanied by Ms. Bergin and Mrs. Finane spent a most enjoyable and educational day at Cloughjordan Cookery School and Farm. On arrival we were treated to hot chocolate and biscuit cake.
Our group was split into two. One group was taken on a tour of the farm, where they were introduced to the pigs, horses, hens and jersey cows. They harvested vegetables ( used for soup at lunch ) and planted cabbage plants.
Meanwhile the remaining pupils prepared a delicious lunch of vegetable soup and yeast bread. After lunch the roles were reversed. Dinner was prepared, again using fresh produce from the farm. We enjoyed homemade lasagne , buttered cabbage, sticky toffee pudding and caramel sauce.
